From Farm to Foodbank

A Model of Sustainability: Cultivating Community Security in San José, Ecuador

Imagine transforming unused land into a thriving source of income, nutritious food, and hope for an entire community. That's precisely what's happening in San José, Ecuador, through our innovative program, "Sustainable Agriculture for Community Security."

By cultivating culturally appropriate, nutritious crops on previously idle land, we’re establishing a sustainable model benefiting all involved:

·  Farmers: Local farmers earn a steady, sustainable income by managing the crops using traditional, eco-friendly agricultural methods.

·  Landowners: Previously unused lands generate income, allowing landowners to reinvest and further develop their properties.

·  Community: One-third of the harvest is donated directly to local foodbanks, supplying fresh produce to those in need.

Though still in its early stages, the program is already proving successful: The farmer is thriving economically, nutritious food is reaching families who need it most, and San José is becoming a beacon of sustainability.

Stay tuned as we continue growing—literally! Together, we’re planting seeds for a healthier, more prosperous future.
