Spirit of Wellness's mission to support communities by providing resources to enhance opportunities begins with a recognition that poor physical health is often a barrier to grasping opportunities.
We strive to change that by offering health and wellness support.
Why We Help
In Ecuador, medical care, in theory, is available to every citizen, free of charge.
However, in practice, this is not the case.
Costs for anything beyond the most basic, routine care must be borne by the individual.
This means that many go without necessary, often life-saving, medical attention.

Spirit of Wellness is coordinating wellness checks for the adults enrolled as foodbank beneficiaries and supplies informational brochures to help reduce the alarming rates of high blood pressure and diabetes found in the community.

The North Coast of Ecuador was hard-hit by the pandemic. With vaccines in short supply, one of the only defenses against disease transmission is the wearing of face masks. Spirit of Wellness provided the community with masks to help with efforts to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

In partnership with other community groups, Spirit of Wellness funded efforts to distribute hygiene guidelines explaining the benefits of social distancing and hand washing to prevent the spread of illness during the pandemic.
